Nancy Ewing, has 40 years teaching experience on both violin and viola, having taught all ages and all levels. She is an active free-lance violist in the Bay Area and Sacramento, having appeared with the Oakland, Vallejo, San Jose, Reno, Marin, Berkeley, North State, Sacramento, Modesto, and California Symphony Orchestras, as well as with Western Opera Theater, Sacramento Opera, Sacramento Choral Society, Villa Sinfonia, Lamplighters and many others. She has also been a regular member of the Music in the Mountains Summer Festival Orchestra viola section since 1990.
Nancy holds a Bachelor's of Music from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where she studied with Don Erhlich, Gennady Kleiman, and Dan Kobialka. She has studied string pedagogy with Zaven Melikian, Suzuki pedagogy with Dr. Walter Haderer, and has privately studied viola with Patricia Heller.
Nancy currently teaches privately in the Greater Bay Area, at the Napa Valley Music Associates, and with "Music Matters" in Fairfield public schools. She also regularly coaches chamber music at the Villa Sinfonia's Zephyr Point Chamber Music Camp, and in the past has mentored for with All Hallows Academy Orchestra and the Sacramento Youth Symphony Chamber Music Program.
